Area51 Repository moved to PCBSD

Posted on Sonntag 22 März 2009

We’re happy to announce that area51 has been moved to
PCBSD. The old server was a slow system at the end of
Andrew Fawcett’s consumer DSL. Now we have more bandwidth.

The checkout URL has been changed to:

http://area51.pcbsd.org/

This is the URL for anonymous access. If you already have
a checkout from the old location, you can either delete
it and check out from the new place, or run:

svn switch –relocate https://kf.athame.co.uk/kde-freebsd/ http://area51.pcbsd.org/

For committers the access URL is:

https://area51.pcbsd.org:444

and the existing authentication details should still work.
many thanks to Kris Moore and Josh Paetzel at PC-BSD for
hosting our new repo, it’s much appreciated!

[FreeBSD Ports] Call for help

Posted on Samstag 21 März 2009

Well normally I write here about KDE and some other
stuff, but now it’s time to Call for help. FreeBSD 8
is coming near and a lot of ports are broken after
tty changes, jail changes, import of strndup(3) ARP v2 import,
libusb20/usb20 and a lot more.. [1]. We need help to fix a
lot of ports for upcomming FreeBSD 8. If you have experiences
with C/C++ you are really welcome. Mark Linimon has already
set up a wiki page with a list of broken ports. Please have
a look [2]. If you find any interesting stuff for you,
let me know. Please get in touch with me if you need help
in getting started.

update in next days)

Few weeks ago and I proposed Dennis Herrmann for a commit bit, yesterday he was approved by portmgr :) .
I’ll be his mentor with Thomas (tabthorpe@) as co-mentor.
