Small Status Update. Today i’ve updated the last ports to KDE 4.0.3,
and switched from devel/gamin to devel/fam. This fixed the crash with
kded4 and makes konquerer a lot faster.

When you get follow message:

===> kdebase-runtime-4.0.3 is marked as broken: FAM system mismatch: gamin is
installed, while desired FAM system is fam.

do the following:
edit your /etc/make.conf and add WANT_FAM_SYSTEM=fam
and then:
portupgrade -o devel/fam devel/gamin or
portmaster -o devel/fam devel/gamin

and go back to kde4 and start the build again. Markus is working
on solving the problems with devel/gamin we hope we can
come up with a solution soon. Other good news is
ksysguard works now without problems.

What is Portscout:
Portscout is a tool which looks for new versions of software in the
FreeBSD ports tree and potentially other software repositories.

Various factors make this task a bit more difficult than it might
initially seem. In particular, the array of weird and wonderful
versioning schemes software vendors manage to come up with.

In addition to all this, it is possible to generate nice HTML reports
and send reminder mails to interested parties.

In den letzten Wochen und Monaten musste ich mit erschrecken feststellen wie duennhaeutig die Deutsche BSD Community geworden ist. Wenn man sich mit der Deutschen Community etwas auseinandersetzt stellt man schnell fest, dass es 2 Gruppen gibt. Einmal die Noergler- Fraktion die alles kaputt – oder totreden. und einmal die alles fuer den Dackel- Fraktion. Ich finde es sehr traurig zusehen, dass die BSD Community immer mehr Linux aehnlicher wird. Und ich meine nicht RTFM, google mal bei Einsteigern. Sondern ich meine das es teilweise auch wirklich sehr Persoehnlich wird/geworden ist. Damals war es fuer mich mit ein Grund, Linux den Ruecken zu kehren. Ich finde es sehr schade zusehen, dass Einsteiger oder Umsteiger immer wieder verschreckt werden oder durch den Kakao gezogen werden. Junges ihr vergesst, das wir ALLE mal klein angefangen haben. Wir sollten dieses Thema nicht auf die leichte Schulter nehmen. Es ist ernst und unsere Glaubwuerdigkeit ist auch in Gefahr. Wir sind selbst verantwortlich fuer unsere Zukunft!!

Mal wieder aktuellen Stand bringen. Aktuell habe ich 1660 Euro zusammen. Danke an alle Spender .

Heute ist ein scheiss Tag. Heute morgen Telefon und DSL komplett tod. Nach ein bischel rum Telefonieren stellte sich raus das die Jungs von der Tcom versehntlich den falschen gekappt hatten. Als dann Telefon und DSL wieder lief sah ich das miwibox.org down ist. Serielle Console zeigt poese HDD errors. Da einige miwibox.org als cvsup mirror benutzen werden sie vermutlich schon fest gestellt haben das es nicht mehr geht. Bitte stellt die supfiles um auf amd64.miwibox.org. Ich will sehen das ich die kiste so schnell wie moeglich wieder online bekomme.

Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen mein Blog auf WordPress 2.5 geupdatet. Irgendwie habe ich den eindruck es ist ziehmlich buggy. Was denkt ihr?

Right now I have some free time to update KDE4. Today i’ve committed the
5 Basic Ports (kdelibs4/base4/pimlib/runtime/workspace) with the implementation
of bsd.kde4.mk. This allows further use of USE_KDE4 (actually, kdelibs, kdebase
and pimlibs) for KDE4-related builds. Now I have to work on the implementation
of all other related ports.

I’ve got some mails asking what happened to me. Here’s the answer:
I’ve been busy with Xorg cleanup, see the HEADUP from flz@ here
Most of the work is complete and the first cluster build is done.
The result is that my patch broke 130 ports. This is fixed by now
and a new exp run is in progress. This is my first big patch for the
Ports tree, so I hope my changes will be accepted .
Oh and i should say Thanks to all my helpers.
